Hassnar’s Mucuna Extract Capsule

Mucuna pruriens is a leguminous shrub which grows all over India, also known as Velvet Bean, as the seedpods are covered with velvet coating of hairs, if touched cause itching and irritation on skin. In Sanskrit it is called “KAPIKACCHU” meaning if touched one starts itching like a monkey (Kapi). In Hindi it is called Kaunch.

In Ayurved Kaunch beej (seeds) are used as aphrodisiac, increasing libido of both men and women, in treating erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, spermatorrhoea (involuntary loss of semen, while passing urine or while passing stool) and in treating infertility as Mucuna increase sperm count and sperm motility.

Mucuna seeds are also used in treating Parkinson’s disease known as “KAMPAVAT” in Ayurved, meaning tremors due to vaat.
The tribal people use plant and its extracts as anti venom for various snake bites.

Mucuna seeds contain L-dopa , mucanine and serotonin. L-DOPA is a direct precursor to the neurotransmitter dopamine. Dopamine works as one of the best natural human growth hormone (hgh) releasers by stimulating the pituitary gland to increase it’s production, thus Mucuna is very useful in height growth. High levels throughout life of the body’s own natural growth hormone (not hormones from the synthetic injections) is known as a major key for human longevity.

Dopamine also increases other youth hormone testosterone. The resulting increased levels of these hormones from the use of mucuna pruriens extracts, explains its association with increasing libido, fertility, lean muscle mass, reducing signs of aging such as wrinkles, increasing bone density and even boosting overall energy levels.

The ethanolic extract of M. pruriens seed significantly recovered or protected erectile tissue from the oxidative stress-induced degeneration by its antioxidant potentials. These findings propound to serve mankind by the treatment of diabetes-induced erectile dysfunction.

Following research validates that Mucuna not only improves sperm quality of infertile men but also increased sexual drive and proper functioning of male reproductive system.

On the basis of the afore-stated facts, it may be proposed that increased dopamine level in the brain may not only optimize the release of hormones, including testosterone, leading to increased sexual drive and improved performance, but it may also accomplish reduction of psychological stress. Moreover, treatment with Mucuna pruriens may also contribute to proper functioning of male genital system and facilitate sperm transport, contraction of seminal vesicles and inhibition of lipid peroxidation of spermatozoa.

To understand the mechanism of action of Mucuna pruriens in the treatment of male infertility.
Prospective study.

Seventy-five normal healthy fertile men (controls) and 75 men undergoing infertility screening.
High-performance liquid chromatography assay for quantitation of dopa, adrenaline, and noradrenaline in seminal plasma and blood. Estimation by RIA of hormonal parameters in blood plasma, namely T, LH, FSH, and PRL.
Before and after treatment, serum T, LH, FSH, PRL, dopamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline in seminal and blood plasma were measured.
Decreased sperm count and motility were seen in infertile subjects. Serum T and LH levels, as well as seminal plasma and blood levels of dopamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline were also decreased in all groups of infertile men. This was accompanied by significantly increased serum FSH and PRL levels in oligozoospermic subjects. Treatment with M. pruriens significantly improved T, LH, dopamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline levels in infertile men and reduced levels of FSH and PRL. Sperm count and motility were significantly recovered in infertile men after treatment.
Treatment with M. pruriens regulates steroidogenesis and improves semen quality in infertile men.

The seed powder of the leguminous plant, Mucuna pruriens has long been used in traditional Ayurvedic Indian medicine for diseases including parkinsonism. We have assessed the clinical effects and levodopa (L-dopa) pharmacokinetics following two different doses of mucuna preparation and compared them with standard L-dopa/carbidopa (LD/CD).

The rapid onset of action and longer on time without concomitant increase in dyskinesias on mucuna seed powder formulation suggest that this natural source of L-dopa might possess advantages over conventional L-dopa preparations in the long term management of PD. Assessment of long term efficacy and tolerability in a randomised, controlled study is warranted.
